J.B. Brocato is the Founder & CEO of Intense Artist Management, a full-service music management company. He is also a practicing music attorney with a prominent law firm in Chicago, Illinois, and has been a musician since the age of five. Let J.B. show you how to tap into your ability to steer the course of your own music career WITHOUT A MANAGER! Go confidently in the direction of your musical ambitions and CREATE VALUE in the marketplace that will be attractive to record labels, booking agents and other crucial industry executives.

ARTIST MANAGER: As an artist manager, J.B. has managed a number of artists, including modern rock bands, a progressive rock band, solo rock vocalists, solo singer-songwriters, and Grammy® Award winner, Jim Peterik, of Survivor and Ides of March fame. Jim is responsible for the number one hit, "Vehicle" (which has arguably the most famous horn riff in rock history), and a host of other famous hits (either as sole writer or co-writer), including the iconic smash hit, "Eye of the Tiger."

His role as an artist manager has given J.B. the opportunity to amass a powerful network of contacts at record labels (A&R), major booking agencies, powerful entertainment attorneys, other powerful managers, major producers, image and consulting companies, publicists, street teams, and photographers. J.B.'s relationships with these people have given him a unique opportunity to bring together wisdom and advice from many different and very knowledgeable people in the music industry—which has fueled his insight into the music business.

MUSIC LAWYER: J.B. Brocato graduated from Northwestern Law School, and was an editor on the Northwestern University Law Review. Today, he is an Equity Partner, Chairman of the Executive Committee, and Chief Marketing Officer of Pedersen & Houpt, a prominent Chicago law firm. An important part of his practice is representing music artists, bands, record companies, and music publishing companies.

As an attorney, he has also had the opportunity of developing critical sales and marketing skills. Success in the music business—management in particular—is tied to the ability to "pitch" an artist to industry executives and close the deal! He knows how to market. He is a top rainmaker at his law firm. He possesses an effective ability to develop relationships with business people to generate the word "Yes" and a commitment to doing business. The ability to make connections and pitch industry executives is critical.

MUSICIAN: J.B. started playing drums when he was five years old, and has played in bands for more than twenty years. He has appeared on national television and has opened up for one of his all-time heros, the legendary jazz drummer, Buddy Rich.

As you can see, J.B. Brocato brings to the table three critical things: knowledge and experience as a music manager who is in the trenches every day working hard for artists, as a music lawyer who is sensitive to the legal aspects of the business, and as a musician who understands what you are going through. He gets it! Bringing these three levels of experience together is rare. Now, for the very first time, he has been able to synthesize everything down to the information and advice he shares with you in MANAGE YOURSELF: A DEVELOPING ROCK BAND'S GUIDE TO SELF MANAGEMENT.
